Artist Tags on NovelAI Boys | (New Site)

About

Many frequently used Stable Diffusion artist tags are not as effective when generating images using NovelAI Diffusion. Inspired by the Tag Experiments conducted by u/lifecuntingent and u/Carlyone, I decided to curate a personal list of such tags to aid me when generating "anime-styled" boys. Each of these tags are tested first with multiple generations on random seeds with the base prompt to ensure the presence of a unique style. Then, I finetuned the strength of the tag to find the sweet spot that ensures a consistent style. Finally, the showcasing image was generated using the preset seed. This procedure means the showcase images, more often than not, do not look as good as generating with random seeds. Your own results may vary.

How to Use

Simply copy the tag (with its recommended strength denoted by {} and []), and paste it at the end of your prompt. In some rare cases, try alternative phrasing like {drawn by Artist Name} (see Akihiko Yoshida tag). In other cases, you may also need to add tags to UC prompt to counteract against unintended effects of the artist tag.

Tips

  • I turned off Undesired Content and Quality Tags to minimize side effects. You can turn them on when crafting your own prompts.

  • The strength of each artist tag is only tested on the base image prompt.

  • Tags placed near the beginning of a prompt are more effective. Although my habit is to place style tags (like these artist tags) behind the the tags that physically describe the character and scene.

  • In my testing, the absence of nsfw tag did not cause much issue. However, I've seen some simply clothing from one or two tags. To be completely SFW, enter nsfw into UC prompt.

  • These artist tags do not necessarily reflect the actual drawing style of the artists. Reine Hibiki and Michelangelo Buonarotti are two good examples.

  • AI and humans each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and use different processes to reach the end result of creating an "enjoyable artwork". It is my opinion that instead of mimicking the style of a single artist, diffusion models image generators are better used to create mixtures of multiple styles.
